Review, Review, Review.

Well.

Where to begin.

Three words: Bizarre… Wierd… Wonderful.

Yet all three are shrouded in a kind of disbelief.  Any historical beliefs I may just have had are rattled to the core …shaken AND stirred.  This is almost a parody of expectations. One could feel the deep seated shock within the audience and the slightly uncomfortable coughs and refusal to look sideways at one’s neighbour in his equally uncomfortable cinema tub seat gave the game away completely.

Darkly black,  uneasily comedic,  swiftly deconstructing any values, myths, or preconceptions about this era of the Royals, we encounter Queen Anne and the two women in her life as if she were a complete stranger. We leave wanting to know more about this woman , this portrayed creature, as little attention seems to have been paid to her before now in the annals of history.

Olivia Coleman is simply brilliant in her depiction…
